Hi Nick
I met you in 2005 at Sainsbury's in Plymouth when you helped me and my boys make bird boxes. I was about to leave for Australia and New Zealand. We had a lovely pic taken with you if you want to see it. We didn't get to Tazmania to see the Duck Billed Platypus I'm afraid, but swam off Lady Elliot Island with Green Turtles, saw Manta Ray. Visted Mon Repos Turtle Conservation Centre to name a couple things. We saw Whales off Kaikoura in New Zealand, but never saw a Kiwi I've been back in England volunteering for nearly 3 years with Diggin'It community organic and wildlife garden. We have populated the pond well, and are a release site for Hedgehogs. We have lots of interesting insects living around the pond. Would be great for you to pop in and see us and Matt our wildlife man, who started as a volunteer with PTSD, then developed into our Wildlife man and now he's blossoming too! We'd love for you to visit, pop in when you're home. http://www.diggin-it.org/ check it out. And let me know if you want to see the pic of us! Look me up on facebook if you like. My profile pic is of me with a Praying Mantis on my hand, and I have a whole album of me with a Red Admiral Butterfly all over me! It was fantastic! _________________ love from Sarah x |

Sorry I'm not Nick replying.
In your post to Nick I noticed that you mentioned that you run a release site for Hedgehogs. This is currently a quest of mine for our local school to become one as well. I was wondering who your contacts were and how you went about it.
I recently contact tiddlywinkes but we are apparently we are too far away for them to be used as a release site. So I am looking for a contact closer to home which is in South East Wales.
The reason why we want to have hedgehogs is because the school grow organic veggies and we only want to use natural remedies against Pests i.e slugs and snails. Hence the reason for wanting to adopt some hedgehogs.
Best wishes

Hi Helen
That sounds like a brilliant idea of yours. If you check out www.digginit.org.uk you will be able to email Matt who will be able to answer your questions in more detail. Also, how about contacting your local Wildlife Trust. I am sure they could point you in the direction of local contacts. Good luck.
Best wishes
