Nick will be at the Mar Lodge Estate in the Cairngorm Mountains where with the BBC Winterwatch team to bring you the fabulous Winterwatch Unsprung. He will be sharing the best of viewers’ stories, photographs and videos as well as answering any wildlife challenges he is set. Of course Nick will also be inspiring passionate nature lovers to get outdoors and do some discovering themselves, as well as being out and about himself during the day to bring you more on the winter habits of Highland wildlife and its fight for survival in one of the coldest places in the UK.
Mar Lodge Estate is officially one of the coldest places in the UK. The lowest ever temperature in Britain was recorded there in 1982 at -27.2 degrees C. The Cairngorms are home to the largest area of arctic-alpine flora in Britain and the Cairngorm plateau and is one of the areas least affected by humans in the UK. The team will witness life on the edge as Mar Lodge Estate’s wildlife copes with the harshest, most extreme winter weather in Britain.This is the perfect place to examine the impact of harsh winter weather on our wildlife.
Roving reporter Lindsey Chapman joins Nick and the team to bring all the behind the scenes news and views and to reveal some of the challenges the team have had capturing winter wildlife in extreme conditions.
