By popular request and in association with the Grant Arms Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey I shall be leading a programme this coming April (2020) that incorporates, in my view two of the finest reasons to visit the highlands of Scotland. I’ve always had a love for the Malt, however, the actual knowledge of the skill, art and alchemy that goes into creating a malt … had passed me by. Until that is my good friend and publican (and once a resident of Scotland) Simon Sauders started to explain a few things to me. So rather than just be the middle man, and risk passing on inaccurate information – we have decided to work together; Simon leading the visits to distilleries, cooperages and maltings and me ‘doing’ the wildlife side of things. The plan is to alternate the experiences using the sumptuous Grat Arms hotel as a base which incidently has a mean collection of malts of its own to sample in the evenings. This is the perfect holiday for anyone with an interest in some of the best and most spectacular British Wildlife and Scenery as well as for the curious folk – who want a beginners journey through the world of whisky – from how it’s made to what gives each malt its distinctive character. The dates for the holiday are 20th – 26th April 2020.
